GMC Church History

Pastor George W. Carelock and family stepped out on faith by saying “Yes” to God in April 2009. Through prayer and supplication the church was named Grace and Mercy Cathedral. The first service started with Bible study on Tuesday nights at Cascade library, Sterling, VA beginning June 2, 2009 to June 30, 2009. The Lord set his approval on this ministry, and the blessings was overtaking the pastor in a short period of time. Our Motto for the Ministry is: “We Expect God!”

On July 5, 2009, we moved into our new church home at 4500 Southgate Place, Suite 550, Chantilly, VA.  The official opening celebration service was Saturday, July 18, 2009; the people came from far, and near to help uplift the name of the Lord while celebrating this auspicious occasion.  The Lord showed himself strong and mighty, while blessing His people real good!

In August 2009, the first family joined the church, “The LeCounte’s.”  The Lord has added additional members to the church as He see fit.

In June of 2010, GMC name changed to Grace and Mercy Church of God In Christ, under the Washington, DC, Jurisdiction.

Some of the activities and accomplishment of GMC are: Bi-weekly outreach mission at the Wingler House, independent living facility for the elderly; Host Noon-day Prayer teleconference every Friday; with participants from various regions including Canada and Alaska;  Hosted Annual Mother’s Day Prayer Brunch; Men’s Retreat; Women’s Weekend; Youth Revival; Fall Festival and Evangelism Outreach Program.

Truly, the anointing of the Lord is upon this great ministry, and God has blessed us with some creative members.  We are working together as one body to accomplish the work of the Lord until He RETURNS.
